Where I want to be
The relationship that people establish with space is established in organisms. In this direction, I sewed and combined the SCOBYs that I prepared at different times and with different resins. While doing this, I shaped it over the sketch of the house I lived in before.
It is aimed to emphasize the future potential of biomaterials as well as the impact and importance of the interaction of art and biology in the field of innovative ideas and research for a more sustainable world. Within the scope of “New Material” research, biomaterial studies offer futuristic solutions to current problems with features such as biodegradability, ethical production, animal-free skin. In this context, I believe that today's biotemplated art and design studies will lead to new ways of thinking by addressing the environment and nature and creating awareness. This interdisciplinary study not only creates a result for a selected field; but also shows that it can be used in different fields.
The installation emerged from the idea of “producing a living surface”. By revealing the potential of biomaterials in the field of design and art, it is aimed to emphasize the importance of sustainability in the world of design and art and to contribute to the development of new design concepts.
